The other day I decided to fire up one of my old Sims games to remind myself what kind of twisted version of my own life I'd concocted years ago, and what I found did not disappoint. While the virtual versions of my enemies ran around in their little Sisyphean mazes only a cruel and evil god could have constructed, the Sim version of me was absolutely thriving in its decadent mansion. It was amusing until I found a house full of Sim versions of all my real life crushes at the time. Mortified, I deleted the game and remembered why I'd stopped playing—it's fun at first, but after a while, The Sims can either get really boring or turn you into a sociopath. There's really no in between.
